QL Xperience Video Eyewear simulate an 80″ TV Screen

Q-London isn’t the first to come up with the idea of video glasses to be sure. But they claim that their new 3D QL Xperience Video Eyewear gives the viewer the equivalent experience of watching an 80″ TV from 2 meters away.

I know what you’re thinkin’. Is it in HD? Well, no. But still, if users are on a plane or alone traveling and wish to have that large cinematic experience from their portable DVD player or iPod, this video headset may be the answer.

In addition to the headset, the QL glasses come with a built in rechargeable battery, and infra-red remote control (which makes sense since the viewer is completely immersed in the experience), adapter cables, mini-jacks and a USB charging cable. Those wishing to use the QL Xperience Video Glasses for their iPod must have an adapter, but they are readily available.

Viewers can use them across platforms as well, meaning PAL/NTSC and SECAM are all readily available. The one downside, however, is that there’s no diopter adjustment for those who wear glasses, so if vision correction is a daily part of your life, you may want to look at other options.

Cost is around $310 US.

The USB Jewel Square Necklace MP3 Player

There have been several different USB drives turned into a necklace, but there have been quite a bit less necklace MP3 players. If for some reason the necklace MP3 players are something you’d like to try out, this one from Brando would probably do the trick. Much like the other gadgets turned into jewelry, it’s a little on the cheesy side. With the oversized jewel, it’s unlikely that anyone could possibly overlook this necklace.

Samsung VC240 video conferencing LCD monitor

In view of the global economic slowdown, many companies are doing their part to reduce their operating costs, and some of these include flying executives to congregate in one place just to hold a meeting and come to an agreeable business decision. Why, with the proliferation of broadband technology and video conferencing facilities these days, there is no longer and need to live out a jet-setting lifestyle. The Samsung VC240 is a perfect example of such a device - this LCD monitor comes with a 5-megapixel camera, displaying video in 24″ glory. The VC240 will rely on V2oIP for communications and works with other VoIP systems and SIP control units as well. Video is compressed using the H.264 codec, and you ought to have crystal clear communications with its noise-canceling microphone. Samsung will offer the VC240 this fall for $1,999.

Wii Bowling Ball from CTA Digital

I’ve noticed a lot of accessories for WiiSports, and most of them are golf clubs and tennis rackets. This is the first time I have seen one for Wii Bowling, and I’m not certain that it will not be the last.

This particular accessory was on display at this year’s E3, and was designed by CTA Digital. It is apparently fashioned after an “authentic bowling ball”, and the user has to open it up and put in the Wii remote and close this ball.

From there, you have to “plug the holes with your fingers”, but I don’t see any holes on this guy. I see three buttons, and unless you can push those in really deep, those are hardly holes.

At first I thought you would have to take off the WiiStrap in order use this accessory, but I’ve just read that the user has to use the WiiStrap in order hold the ball on their wrist. I suppose that’s to keep you from bowling through your flatscreen.

I’m not certain how much this weighs, but it doesn’t look too heavy to me. In fact, I remember having a lightweight plastic bowling kit as a kid, and this ball looks a lot like it. At least I don’t have to manually set up the pins.

Unfortunately, there is no word on pricing and availability on this product, but it is compatible to several Wii bowling games.

Samsung announces first solar powered GSM Cellphone

Samsung is going green with it’s first solar-powered GSM cell phone. Known by the catchy moniker “Crest Solar,” the E1107 (as it is officially known) has a large solar cell on the back of the handset and can provide up to 10 minutes of talk time for every hour it sits in the sun charging up on your basic sunny day.

In addition to it’s environmental bonafides, the camera is dual band for use in both the 900 Mhz and 1800 Mhz range. Other features include all the usual refinements including an FM radio and MP3 ringtones, and games. It can even work as a flashlight but you can bet that’s a battery killer which will force you to wait until sunrise to recharge without the AC adapter. Security features include Samsung’s proprietary Mobile Tracker - which will alert the authorities in the event of an emergency with an SOS like signal, and there’s also a fake call feature for use when wanting to disengage from a sticky situation with a well timed phone call. Lastly, there’s specialized features for things like specialized markets and even religious preferences.

Cost is currently $59 US for the Asian market with no word on when it’ll be available in the Western world.
